Octagon’s Clinical Data Strategies expert to present in multiple tracks

(WAYNE, PA, March 13, 2008) — CEO & Chairman Jim Walker of Octagon Research Solutions, Inc., a leader in the electronic transformation of clinical R&D in the life sciences industry, today announced that Octagon will be exhibiting at the 23rd Annual Drug Information Association’s (DIA) Clinical Data Management Conference and Exhibition. The conference, which takes place from March 16-18, 2008, will be held at the JW Marriott Hotel located at 1331 Pennsylvania Avenue, NW, Washington, DC.

As a part of Octagon’s continued commitment to provide thought leadership within the industry, Octagon’s Barry Cohen, director, Clinical Data Strategies will be conducting two presentations. Mr. Cohen has authored numerous bylines on the topics of data standardization and data integration technology. In addition, Mr. Cohen is a frequent presenter at industry conferences and is considered an expert in the field of clinical data strategies. Among his many professional memberships, Mr. Cohen is a founding executive committee member of the Delaware Valley Clinical Data Interchange Standard Consortium (CDISC) User Network as well as co-founder and president of the Philadelphia SAS User Group (PhilaSUG).

Mr. Cohen’s first presentation, entitled “SDTM – Plus or Minus”, will discuss the challenges of using the CDISC Study Data Tabulation Model (SDTM), which is the new industry standard for the submission of clinical data, as the standard in operational systems that collect and archive the data. His second presentation entitled, ‘Metadata Repository Use in an End-to-End, CDISC Standards-based Clinical Data Lifecycle’, will discuss aspects of designing and implementing processes and systems across the clinical data life cycle that are based upon CDISC standards and are supported by a single, enterprise-wide metadata repository. He will consider metadata use in trial design, collection, clinical data warehousing, and statistical analysis and reporting.

Octagon will be exhibiting at Booth # 506, and will demonstrate its integrated EDC platform, ViewPoint® FUSE. ViewPoint FUSE provides user-friendly, web-based access to efficient data capture capabilities. Combined with Octagon’s process and technology integrations, ViewPoint FUSE promotes enterprise level data standardization across the clinical data lifecycle.

Octagon will also provide a demonstration of ViewPoint for Clinical Data Governance. ViewPoint for Clinical Data Governance provides a mechanism for managing and tracking clinical data standards from development phases through implementation and retirement. This configuration provides a controlled, centralized library of data standards that can be accessed by global Clinical study personnel and assists organizations in the adoption of clinical data standards.
