Outside Sales Director

Location: San Francisco Bay Area

Octagon is a high growth entrepreneurial company that is looking for a polished, professional, highly motivated Business Development manager, capable of establishing and managing executive level relationships with prospective biopharmaceutical clients to generate new and repeat business for all business lines.

Reporting directly to the Senior Director within our Business Development Department, the Director’s primary responsibilities will include the following:

  • Building and executing business plan for achieving quarterly and annual revenue and pipeline objectives
  • Identification and Prospecting of new business leads, including qualification and needs assessments
  • Building and maintaining a sales opportunity pipeline utilizing company sales and automation tools
  • Presentation and Positioning of Octagon marketing and sales solutions to prospective client executives (outsourced professional services)
  • Developing effective proposals and persuasively closing new business opportunities
  • Adhering to the Octagon Strategic Selling Methodology for developing sales pipeline
  • Maintaining client relationships and building new business relationships
  • Providing market feedback internally concerning the effectiveness of products, services and marketing programs

The successful candidate will have a combination of the following skills/experience:

  • Four year degree (or equivalent work experience)
  • Minimum of 5 –7 years in outside sales environment with proven track record
  • Minimum of 2 years experience in “solution-selling” role services, selling into Biotech and Pharmaceutical sector (preferably clinical R&D and/or regulatory related services)
  • Strong sales skills & ability to work with CXO-level executives
  • Willingness to prospect relentlessly to drive strong activity
  • Strong writing, oral & presentation skills
  • Willingness to travel up to 50%
  • Must be extremely self motivated and a quick learner
