Position Summary

Octagon Research Solutions is currently seeking a Senior Software Developer (SSD) to join the Octagon Product Development team. The senior developer will be responsible for helping to build and maintain the middle tier layer and database for ViewPoint Quantum. The position will combine both hands-on software development experience with the ability to work within a highly focus team. Some knowledge of regulatory operations and regulatory submission standards in the Bio-Pharma area would be very useful. This role will be responsible for the design, development and maintenance of the ViewPoint Quantum middle tier as well as database. The position will be expected to be guided by the activities defined in the Application Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC).

Position Detail

The Senior Software Developer will be responsible for the writing of detailed design specifications, the construction of software modules that implement the specifications provided by the ViewPoint Quantum requirements team, and the maintenance of existing modules. Specific responsibilities include:

  • Ability and motivation to serve in the role as Senior Software Developer for the ViewPoint Quantum product
  • Deliverables for ViewPoint Quantum
  • Work closely with the Subject Matter Experts (SME) to ensure the developing specifications will be satisfied for the ViewPoint Quantum product
  • Work closely with the Project Manager and the SME to ensure that customer requirements are clear, unambiguous and complete. Manage your SDLC assigned tasks per the project plan and provide weekly progress updates to Project Management
  • Since you are working in a regulated industry, the quality of your work must be high and in compliance with all applicable SOPs
  • Both detail oriented (collaborate with the project team members to drive toward completeness and prevent things from falling through gaps) and also big picture oriented with the capability of chalk-talking thorough your ideas on how to complete development cycles more effectively and identify what tool automation might be useful
  • Work closely with Product Testing to ensure the ViewPoint Quantum project solution meets customer requirements and installation & performance qualifications

Requirements and Qualifications

Position requires background in full lifecycle software development including specification, coding, testing and release management. Specific requirements include:

  • 10+ years of overall software development experience
  • 7+ years experience with Oracle Service Orientated Architecture (SOA) 10/11G
  • 7+ years experience with Oracle 10/11G Database
  • 3+ years experience with Business Process Execution Language (BPEL), Business Process Management (BPM), and Business Activity Monitoring (BAM)
  • 3+ years experience in developing BPEL processes and Enterprise Service Bus (ESB) Web Services
  • 5+ years experience with Oracle Jdeveloper 10/11G, J2EE
  • 5+ years experience with Oracle Application Server (OC4J)
  • 5+ years experience with deployment experience of the Oracle Fusion Middleware suite
  • 5+ year experience in working with Web Services (SOAP, MTOM).
  • 5+ years experience in PL/SQL, Stored Procedures and triggers, SQL Loader, Unix Shell Scripting, Unix Commands
  • 3+ years experience in developing applications using XML technologies, e.g. XPath, XSLT
  • 1+ years experience working with Oracle BI Publisher
  • Solid understanding of server clustering
  • Competent written and oral communication skills and the ability to engage with staff and SME's effectively
  • Ability to work cooperatively with project manager to identifying work completion levels and work remaining
  • Demonstrated ability to manage one's own work and time based on the project plan, assigned tasks and milestones, and direct one's own efforts effectively
  • A solid understanding of databases, messaging services, enterprise application integration, and other Internet, security, and software technologies is a plus
  • Knowledge of quality assurance processes in a FDA regulated software development environment is a plus
  • MS in Computer Science or related field

Desirable

  • Experience working with AccuRev
  • Knowledge of performing software builds
  • Experience and knowledge of electronic submissions and regulatory ops related processes
  • Software implementation experience in regulated environments (e.g. FDA) in compliance with regulatory SOPs
