EDC Product Manager

Octagon Research Solutions is undergoing rapid growth in its commercial software division and is currently seeking a Software Product Manager with at least 6 years of experience to expand its Software Product Management team. As the champion of the EDC core software product line, the EDC Product Manager is responsible for ensuring continued market viability through the development of product enhancements and fulfilling a key cross-functional coordination role throughout the company.
Currently, we are experiencing significant growth in our Wayne, PA location and are conducting a nationwide search in efforts to expand our EDC Operations Team. Reporting directly to the Senior Director of Product Management, the role is responsible for ensuring the strategic objectives of Octagon's global EDC data collection and management software product.
The EDC Product Manager's primary responsibilities will include the following:
- Work with Senior Director of Product Management , Product Strategy team and the EDC business unit to balance product requirements and development resource constraints to establish achievable product development schedules
- Develop and manages EDC core product roadmap considering market priorities, client opportunities, client needs, and competing products
- Lead product management activities through hands-on participation in and management of resources responsible for the following activities:
- Elicit and document information system requirements by understanding product vision, interviewing stakeholders, prioritizing ideas, organizing needs, writing clear business requirements
- Analyze and prioritizes requirements for product from end users, partners, sales, marketing, consultants and other internal and external sources
- Solicit agreement from stakeholders and works with the Product Development team in confirming that software meets requirements
- Produce usage scenarios, storyboards, interaction and navigation models, information architectures, workflow and task flow diagrams, interaction specifications, and style guides
- Work with client base representatives and Product Development to ensure that enhancements meet client expectations
- Monitors industry, market and competitive trends including competitors, competitive product's features and functionality, pricing and promotions
- Review & provide feedback for all product-related documentation
- Deliver products to market within established product planning, management, development, and release SOPs
- Manage budget, resources, and product release deliverables
- Participate in the development of new business opportunities and marketing activities
- Represents Octagon to partners and customers
- Travel (25%) for coordination with product stakeholders
The successful candidate will have a combination of the following skills/experience:
- BS or BA degree
- 4+ years Software Product Management and/or 6+ years Software Project Management experience for software used in an FDA regulated environment
- Experience with following typical software development standard operating procedures in a regulated environment
- Understanding of pharmaceutical industry clinical research and related processes. Experience with clinical trials and the associated clin-ops workflow, data management and processes in bio-pharma and /or medical devices.
- Self motivated, reliable and detail oriented professional
- Work independently and prioritize work to meet deadlines
- Work effectively with strategic and tactical levels of the company
- Identify, absorb, and apply new concepts and technologies necessary to solve the task at hand
- Excellent written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to effectively deliver presentations to customer audiences.
- Strong ability for writing detailed business requirements and presenting solutions to other team members and customers
- Strong relationship building skills
- Proven analytical, time-management and problem solving skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio
Desirable:
- Some experience with software technology for web based applications. This would include knowledge of HTML, XML and database technology
- Knowledge of or the drive to aggressively learn about web-based EDC
